Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens' Summer Fest

Mark your calendars for July 28th for Summer Fest, a Family Fun Event offered by the Evergreen Arboretum & Gardens. The day will be chock full of hands-on activities that will educate and delight with a focus on the natural world! It’s free and open to all in the arboretum.

This year kids will go on a scavenger hunt, plant trees, get their faces painted, read to dogs, make leaf prints, and learn about birds & bugs! Marco Cortes returns with his guitar (kids enjoyed dancing to his music very much last year!) and local artist, Janet Hamilton will offer a pastel demonstration on-site.

So tell your friends and bring the kids – we have an amazing family day planned for you in the Evergreen Arboretum!

Participating organizations include the Everett Public Library, Paws to Read, The Imagine Children’s Museum, Schack Art Center, Master Gardeners of Snohomish County, Pilchuck Audubon Society, Everett YMCA, Bartlett Tree Service and the Everett Garden Club. Information about participating organizations will also be available.

Edmonds Garden Club Tour

The 23rd annual Edmonds in Bloom Garden Tour will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2018.

A summer must-do for many gardeners, this year’s Garden Tour is filled with inspiration. The 2018 Garden Tour features seven private gardens, six in Edmonds itself and one in Woodway. Gardens range from professionally designed and installed properties to hands-on, DIY creations that truly showcase the owner’s personality and hard work. From a gracious 10-acre estate to an extraordinary collection of hostas, from urban spaces that maximize each square foot to a rambling bit of country in the heart of the city, this year’s tour is bursting with variety, beauty, creativity and imagination.

Order your tickets online at www.edmondsinbloom.com. Beginning the first week of June, tickets will also be available at the following local merchants: Bountiful Home, Frances Anderson Center, Garden Gear, Lil’ Sprout Nursery, and Sky Nursery.  Tickets are $15 each in advance, or $20 each at the first garden on the day of the tour.

Mill Creek Garden Club Tour & Artisan Market

If gardening, soaking up the great outdoors from a gorgeous patio, or enjoying the arts is your pleasure, be sure to participate in the Fourth Annual Mill Creek Garden Tour 2018 & Artisan Market that will tour SIX beautiful gardens.

The event takes you “behind the garden gate” into interesting gardens to explore - which includes a little walking, a little sightseeing, a little socializing and ideas galore. Meander through the showcased yards in Cypress, Evergreen, Fairway, Juniper, River Crossing and Scarborough (just east of Mill Creek).

BRAND NEW this year will be the addition of an Artisan Market in EACH garden, which will consist of local artisans selling their handcrafted, garden-inspired wares.  Look for metal sculptures, nature-inspired pottery, fused glass creations, handmade stepping stones, mosaic art, recycled-wood garden art, glass garden art and even some plants!  A percentage of the proceeds will be given back to Mill Creek Garden Club for our Grant Program.

All proceeds from the event, including ticket sales, go to The Garden Club's Grant Program.  This year alone they were able to award a grand total of $4,700 to local organizations: including Farmer Frog (farmerfrog.org), two local schools and a non-profit community care garden which provides fresh grown produce to the Mill Creek Food Bank and others in our community.  The Mill Creek Garden Club would love to award even more next year and you can help with that!

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $15 for all ages.  Tickets are available at Artisan Custom Framing, Li’l Sprout Nursery, Sunnyside Nursery, Snohomish Garden Center, Sky Nursery, Molbak’s and McAuliffe’s Valley Nursery.  They can also be purchased the day of the tour for $20, only available at Li'l Sprout Nursery - so get your tickets early!
