Featuring hundreds of large exhibition English mums & amazing plant culture!
It’s showtime at Volunteer Park Conservatory! For 75 years Evergreen Chrysanthemum Association members have been growing and showing exhibition chrysanthemums in the greater Puget Sound area. We will have hundreds of blooms on display October 27th - 29th between 10 am and 4 pm at VPC. Chrysanthemum come in many shapes and forms. Come check them out!
The Evergreen Chrysanthemum Association is an amateur non-profit garden club that was established in 1947. We have a long history of growing Chrysanthemums in the greater Puget Sound region and showing them in regional, national and international competitions. The Club presently has approximately 200 different mum cultivars circulating among our club members. Many of these will be on display at our annual show. These varieties are seldom available at garden nurseries or in flower shops. New stock is perpetuated from cuttings taken each year by our members and supplemented by assorted specialty nurseries.
During the months of May and June one of the all-time favorite plants of local gardeners, the peony, is bursting into bloom. There are many excellent peonies available to utilize in our landscapes; including herbaceous cottage types in all sorts of colors (and varying fragrances) and larger growing tree peonies too. I would never scold anyone for growing either of these types (since I do as well), but I want to bring attention to another fabulous peony option… what is known as the intersectional or Itoh Peony.
