African Daisy

Also known as Osteospermum, they have flowers that look familiar and foreign all at the same time. They have fun, funky colors and can look almost hand-painted. They are great for the garden or containers & do well when paired with complementary colored foliage plants. A late spring/summer plant.

Bacopa

These easy-to-grow annuals come in shades of white, pink, lavender and blue. They are trailing and are commonly used in containers, hanging baskets or in the garden to cascade over a wall or quickly cover bare spots under taller plants. A spring/early summer plant.

 

Brachyscome

A fragrant daisy-like flower that has lacy foliage and makes a large impact in the garden by blooming all season. Plant alone or in combinations in all container types & landscapes. Shearing back plants as blooms fade can encourage increased blooming. A late spring/summer plant.

Celosia

These vividly colored flowers come in crested, plumed, or spiked varieties. They are easy to grow and like moist soil, but not too wet to protect the roots from rotting. Great for containers! A late spring/summer plant.

 

Cosmos

Ridiculously easy to grow flowers that will stay in bloom for months and can be grown by simply scattering seeds. They attract bees, butterflies, and birds and they make great cut flowers - a truly low maintenance plant. A late spring/summer plant.

Creeping Charlie

A great creeper or trailing plant for a container or hanging basket. Be careful not to plant it in the ground though as it has been known to be invasive. A late spring/summer plant.

Dahlias

A wide variety of colors and sizes are available in these beautiful plants. They make exceptional, long-lasting cut flowers!  Dahlias like rich, well-draining soil with plenty of organic matter and their tubers can be dug up, wintered-over and then planted again the following year. A summer plant.

 

Diasca

A delicate type of plant that come in trailing or upright varieties. They are a popular plant that comes in bright colors, great for use in containers and hanging baskets. A late spring/summer plant.

Flowering Sweet Peas

A fragrant favorite that are nostalgic for many. Sweet peas are very easy to grow, and they provide season-long color provided the spent blooms are routinely removed. These colorful blooms thrive in cool temperatures, so it's important to get them blooming early, before summer heat knocks them out. A spring plant.

 

Geraniums

Geraniums are a longtime favorite of gardeners. They are easy to grow, colorful, and emit a lovely scent making them ideal for containers, the landscape or even hanging baskets. There are now many varieties of annual geraniums, like ivy, zonal, fancy leaf, scented & Martha Washingtons. A late spring/summer plant.

Gerbera Daisy

These are bright and cheerful daisy-like flowers that come in various sizes and colors. They seem to emit happiness and are a great container plant in the summer. A summer plant.

 

Hebe

An often overlooked garden gem that is an interesting evergreen shrub. They are extremely versatile, easily thriving in many conditions and just as easy to maintain. Their foliage provides year-round interest with additional colors in burgundy, bronze or variegated. Most bloom in summer and last throughout fall providing colorful spiked flowers. A late spring/summer plant.

Lobelia

An easy-to-grow, carefree plant that can produce flowers on up through the first frost. They come in a variety of colors, although the most popular is a deep bluish-purple. There are upright and trailing varieties available making them ideal for containers or hanging baskets - depending on the chosen variety. A late spring/summer plant.

 

Lobularia

Also known as Sweet Alyssum, it is a delicate low-growing carpet of tiny flowers with a sweet, subtle scent. It is very easy to grow, is a cool season, early spring flower that can also be grown throughout the fall and winter. Typically comes in white, light purple or a combination of the two colors. A late spring/summer plant.

Marigolds

These bright beauties are cheerful and easy to grow! They come in a few different varieties and a few different colors. A classic favorite that blooms brightly all summer long. Also a good companion plant for vegetable gardens. A late spring/summer/fall plant.

 

Million Bells

Also known as Callibrachoas, they bloom nonstop from spring to frost without the need for deadheading. Perfect for containers & hanging baskets as they are trailing plants. They also attract hummingbirds and butterflies! A late spring/summer plant.

Mums

Also known as Chrysanthemums, they are a classic garden staple for the fall. They come in a wide range of colors, providing nice full, vibrant color, & are perfect for containers or in the landscape. A late summer/fall plant.

 

Nemesia

A versatile plant with many uses that comes in a wide range of colors, some even in bicolors. They almost look like a smaller version of an orchid or even a snapdragon flower. Perfect for containers and hanging baskets. A late spring/summer plant.

Ornamental Cabbage & Kale

They look and grow very much like their close relatives, edible cabbages and kale. Although they're in the same species, these have been bred for their looks. Their leaves have been hybridized to feature purple, rosy, and creamy white colors, making them look more like large flowers than vegetables. Perfect for fall containers and plantings.

 

Ornamental Grass

They make some of the best thrillers in large combination containers since they bulk up quickly, adding height, texture & visual weight all season long. Many varieties bloom all season too, not just in fall like warm season perennial grasses. There are wide ranges of sizes & colors, so finding one that you like is easy! A spring, summer & fall plant.

Ornamental Peppers

Bushy, glossy foliage & colorful, upright clusters of ornamental peppers that come in shades of red, purple, yellow, orange, & more - they change colors as they ripen, so you may see several different colors at one time. They are great in containers, in beds, or the landscape. Typically a late summer/fall plant.

 

Pansies

A cool-weather classic, these beautiful flowers with “faces” are great for both spring and fall gardens! They come in a wide range of bright, pretty colors and patterns. They are a go-to, versatile flower that is good for containers and the landscape. A spring and fall plant.

Petunia

One of the most popular annuals, Petunias are a classic go-to for a reason. They come in a wide range of colors and many varieties making them incredibly versatile. A late spring/summer plant.

 

Portulaca

Also known as Sun Rose, they are easy to grow and enjoy - they’re also drought tolerant! They will seed and spread themselves very well, so be mindful to keep them contained if you don’t want them to multiply. A summer plant.

Potato Vine

Also commonly known as Sweet Potato Vine, they are one of the most versatile plants around. Great in sun or shade they are perfect for containers, hanging baskets, gardens, landscapes, or borders. It is known for its colorful chartreuse or black foliage. A late spring/summer plant.

 

Primroses

These early spring, vibrant beauties are easy to grow & adaptable for use in containers, garden beds or borders. They offer a variety of form, size, & color and can bloom for a long time. A early spring plant.

Salvia

Colorful spikes of densely-packed flowers with tubular blossoms make these plants so popular. There are many perennial varieties and some that only have marginal hardiness for us here in the PNW, so we treat them as annuals. All pollinators love them, specifically hummingbirds and butterflies. It also tends to deter deer & rabbits due to the distinctive, pungent odor of the leaves. A late spring/summer plant.

 

Snapdragon

Standouts for spring & fall gardens and containers that come in a range of bright, vivid colors. If you press the sides of the flowers they resemble a mouth opening & closing. A spring & fall plant.

Spider Flower

Also known as Cleomes, it is an easy-care favorite. Petals radiate out from a central point, forming a cluster, which tends to be softball-sized. Long stamens give flowers a spiky look. Foliage is fern-like & delicate, making it an attractive match to the beautiful flowers. A summer plant.

 

Strawflower

While the name isn’t very exciting, its colorful & vivid blooms are! They sort of resemble daisies in form, but the petals are stiff and papery. In fact, they’re not traditional petals at all, but leaves called bracts. A late spring/summer plant.

Sunpatiens

A hybrid of “traditional” impatiens, Sunpatiens can thrive in full sun & hot, humid weather (or partial shade as well). They are excellent for containers or the landscape & can bloom straight through from spring to fall. Very easy to grow and low maintenance late spring plant.

 

Supertunias

The Best Petunia. Period. - as stated from the grower Proven Winners.  These beauties are self-cleaning, floriferous, and have flowers that range in color from purest white to rich, royal purple. Available in single, double, mini, Vista, or Mini Vista™varieties. A late spring/summer plant.

Verbena

Great for long lasting blooms that look beautiful even during the hottest days of summer. Comes in a range of colors and is also available in annual & perennial varieties. If humidity is high in your area in summer, choose perennial verbena for a better summer show. A late spring/summer plant.

 

Wave Petunias

A relatively new variety of petunias that are simpler to care for than most other petunias - making it perfect for beginning & busy gardeners. Comes in a variety of bright, eye-catching colors. A late spring/summer plant.
